Marriage preparation is strongly incited or even forced, for couples marrying in the Lebanese Catholic Church. It targets many couples with potential and readiness for change. The social worker could improve the quality of this preparation allowing it to bet on the group as a catalyst for change. Different challenges, such as lack of interest shown by couples, great difficulty to motivate them, content that may seem superficial and incomplete, lack of pedagogical level of the human resources involved; call into question the relevance and adequacy of these programs. This research aims to develop a generic program of marriage preparation that is based on the needs and expectations of couples targeted. The preferred type of study is the analysis of needs as a planning tool. The methodological approach to be followed is divided into two stages: exploring the needs of couples of different profiles and experiences and drawing the program guidelines based on the results of the needs analysis with the participation of stakeholders. Several data collection techniques will be combined: observation, semi-directed interviews, focus groups and community forum. The terms of reference for this research summarize the different components required in a two-way, promotional and preventive marriage preparation program: vision of the couple and the family, basic concepts associated with the success of marriage, principles of andragogy. |
